An office full of wood – Cape Morris, Warsaw, Poland
Recently, I had the pleasure to undertake an unusual order for an advertising agency called Cape Morris. Interestingly, its owners also love wood, so we quickly found a common language 🙂 My task was to design and make an extraordinary reception and conference room – the two most representative places in the company. In addition, I was responsible for making desks for all employees.
We decided that the reception desk should look like a pile of wooden boards, which at the same time would be a comfortable place for everyday work. I achieved the goal by combining oak wood and ingenious plate construction. At the reception I also planned a small triangular coffee table for guests. This seemingly simple piece of furniture, due to the complicated structure of the legs, proved to be quite a challenge. Together, they create an elegant and comfortable space for the agency’s employees and clients.
A 3-meter table made of only two oak boards came to the conference room. Yes, that is correct – it is not glued wood, but two solid planks 50 cm wide (each)! The remaining rooms were fitted with furniture and desks made of thick plywood. The tops were made of 30 mm waterproof birch plywood and I supported them with minimal, steel legs. The effect is strengthened by massive pots made of 21 mm plywood. The whole looks natural and classy, as befits a serious company.
